BHUBANESWAR: At least three people were injured after a major fire broke out at Laxmi market complex in Odisha‘s Puri on Wednesday late night.
A fire brigade team is at the spot and efforts are under way to douse the blaze.
“Three people were injured and they have been admitted to hospital. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Efforts underway to douse the fire,” reported ANI quoting Gokul Ranjan Das, IIC Town Police Station, Puri.
Chief fire officer Ramesh Majhi said that the situation is under control. “12 fire tenders and 160 fire personnel are deployed to douse the fire,” he added.
Meanwhile, 140 tourists were also safely evacuated and are under observation.
“A fire broke out yesterday night. More than 100 residents have been safely evacuated till now. A preliminary survey was done yesterday night and secondary on Thursday morning. Further action underway,” said Dr Kanwar Vishal Singh SP, Puri.
