congress: Convo over Sardar Patel photo lands Karnataka Cong in fresh ‘hot mic’ trouble | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Congress in Karnataka seems to have had a “hot mic” moment yet again.
In a leaked video, former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah can be purportedly heard asking state Congress president DK Shivakumar to install Sardar Patel‘s picture during an event to mark the death anniversary of Indira Gandhi.
Replying to Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar is heard saying that “we never keep Patel’s picture on the day”.
To that, Siddaramaiah pointed out that BJP may criticise the absence of Patel’s picture and take advantage of it.
Shivakumar is then heard instructing an employee at the Congress office to bring the photograph of Sardar Patel.

The video, which was first released by BJP MLA and former minister MP Renukacharya on October 31, has gone viral with several saffron party leaders attacking the Congress.
TOI could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.
Reacting to the video, Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that it exposed the hypocrisy of Congress where worshipping dynasties is far more important than giving respect to founding fathers of our country.
BJP national general secretary CT Ravi claimed that if anyone had doubts about how much the Nehru Dynasty “hated” Sardar Patel, the video clears it.
In October, in a similar gaffe, two Congress functionaries were caught on camera badmouthing Shivakumar and accusing him of being involved in corruption when he was a minister in the HD Kumaraswamy-led JD(S)-Congress coalition government.
